Garrett’s Space Receives Final Site Approval!

We're overjoyed to share that the Superior Township Planning Commission has approved our final site plan, marking a transformative moment for young adult mental health support in our community.

This approval paves the way for us to begin preparations for our young adult participants to meet for in-person gatherings and programming at our property and to break ground on our two new buildings – an approximately 10,000 square foot residence and a 2,000 square foot creativity studio.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Township meeting. Our hearts are full from the outpouring of community support and your powerful testimonies which reminded everyone why this resource is so vital.

The Garrett’s Space campus represents a new model for mental health support – one that combines peer connections, professionally facilitated peer support, and evidence-informed programming in a non-clinical environment. As we work to build our campus, we aim to create a blueprint that can be replicated nationwide to support young adults facing depression and anxiety.

Thank you for helping make this vision possible! Construction preparations will begin soon. Stay tuned!

DID YOU KNOW?

Mental Health Crisis Reinforces Need for Community Support

Recent findings from Harvard's report "On Edge: Understanding and Preventing Young Adults' Mental Health Challenges" reveal a stark reality: Young adults ages 18 to 25 are experiencing unprecedented mental health challenges, with 36% reporting anxiety and 29% reporting depression.

The report identifies key strategies to address young adult mental health challenges that align with the non-medical, holistic approach we use at Garrett’s Space, including:

  • Creating opportunities for meaning and purpose

  • Developing lasting, meaningful relationships

  • Moving beyond achievement-based self-worth to embrace whole-person well-being

At Garrett's Space, we put these strategies into action through our wellness programming. Our community provides young adults with genuine connections and practical tools for building resilience, while honoring each person's unique journey toward well-being.

WELLNESS PROGRAM CORNER

“Garrett’s Space isn’t just a group. It’s not too good to be true. It is exactly as it says it is and so much more. Garrett’s Space has helped me be excited for group next time – which turned into: I am excited for Tuesdays, because that’s group day. Now I am excited for next week. I didn’t think it was possible for me to be excited about the future, but I am, one week at a time.”

All About Programming

The heart of our work lies in the transformative journeys of the young adults we support, and today, we’re deeply moved to share inspiring results from our most recent participant surveys. The responses paint a powerful picture of hope, connection, and healing.

We can see that young adults are finding an understanding judgement free zone, friendship, and practical tools for navigating life's challenges in our wellness groups. The survey results affirm that when young people feel truly seen, supported, and connected, hope grows.
